Only fifteen minutes north of Athens, the Amphiareion of Oropos lies in a valley set between olive groves and wooded hills. My favourite destination for a morning trip outside the city, it is a stunningly peaceful and beautiful site that few people seem to visit.
It can’t be the cost of the 2 euro entrance ticket that is putting visitors off, I think this ancient sanctuary is just very little known!
